Effect of water stress imposed at vegetative stage on growth and physiological traits of subterranean clover

Pasture productivity in the Mediterranean region depends mainly on soil water deficit. Subterranean clover originates from and is adapted to areas with hot dry summers. The response of Subclover drought was studied greenhouse subjected three soils - levels: 100% (control), 50 25% field capacity (FC). After 70 days deficit treatment, our results showed that increasing levels constraint resulted a progressive decline different growth parameters (shoot root matter (DM) height, leaf area, shoot (DM)) those content chlorophyll concentration. At limited irrigation, Trifolium subterraneum L. smaller decreases plant height area. Despite, irrigation increased ratio DM. Thus, it shows better adaptation more balanced balance. Findings this study suggest subterranean used avoidance mechanisms withstand drought.
